Bear Valley Hot Springs!
The best in Idaho. And they are, but this year, they were simply something to run away from.
Seems, due to a number of factors, a very low, early melting snowpack, and a very early onset
of miserable heat, the conditions at this HS were well beyond anything I have ever experienced
in the 20 or so years that I have been going there. In addition to heat that made hot springing
a bit redundant, the bugs, especially the biting variety, were so plentiful, and just plain obnoxious
that it was 9PM before one could even consider going in the springs. Suffice to say, I couldn't wait
to leave, a first in all the years I have been treading these environs. Sad.
